IS has instituted a new program to have the Apple optical Pro Mouse
available for the iMac Labs. As you have seen, when a Pro Mouse is
replaced currently you get one of the two button mouses. But there is
still a desire by the OS 9 Mac Labs to have Pro Mouses to remain
consistent with what you already have.

First off, this supply is not unlimited nor indefinite. IS is going
to swap out the two button mouses to the OS X labs at Adams and
Highland for their Pro Mouses. It turns out a two button mouse works
really nice with OS X. So those Pro Mouses will come back in as
replacement stock for the OS 9 labs. And the same offer will be made
to any other Mac lab that adopts OS X. IS will will also make this
offer to Admin users that are using OS X

But at some point this method of acquiring Pro Mouses will come to an
end and the district will only replace Pro Mouses that are covered
under warranty. And all IS will distribute are the two button mouses.

To be sure you receive a pro Mouse for your OS 9 lab, be sure to tell
the help desk to have the words "OS 9 Mac Lab" on the work order for
any mouse problems. This is to insure that the tech knows they are to
bring a Pro Mouse with them.

OS X Labs, when having a mouse problem after the swapout, you should
have the helpdesk put the words "OS X Mac Lab" on the work order to
be sure you receive two button replacements
