For those of that have ever had a Mac reimaged and then had to
reinstall all your software one application at a time there is an
easier way to do it.

It requires that you have Norton Utilities CD or the Norton
Systemworks CD (you have to buy that out of your budget). It is ok
with IS that you have the Norton CD and use it. I recommend Norton
SystemWorks 3.

The procedure is as follows:

Sit down at the iMac NEXT TO the one that has been reimaged.

Make sure of what network name the reimaged iMac is set to

Insert the Norton CD and boot from it, Run Disk Doctor, then run
Speed Disk. Then go back to Disk Doctor and go to the menu bar, click
on tools and select rebuild desktop. Once done, boot back to the hard
drive. Once booted up, place network asst on the desktop and have it
find the reimaged iMac and add it to the main list as you would
normally

Then go to the main list, highlight the iMac and go to Manage in the
menu bar and select "Copy Hard Drive"

It will give you a list showing what is to be copied to and make sure
the items "system" and "everything else" is checked then click ok.
And then click ok again and the process will start. In between steps
the iMac you're copying from may seem to be hanging, but that's ok.

Depending on the amount of info being transferred, it will take
anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to finish.

Sometimes problems will happen and the process will blow out. In case
like that, get hold of the help desk to have them send out help. But
that doesn't happen often

If you have questions, e-mail me directly. And thanks for this go to
Jodie Thompson at Taft for making me think of it and getting the
approvals
