Thanks to Pam Griffin at Crismon for these notes! The next meeting
will be at Salk Elementary (Brown and Power Road) in the computer
lab (iMac) from 9-11am.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a great first meeting and packed full of information.

* Paul Jepson, Asst. Web Master, spoke first on our Web Site and the
new
changes. The sites with the arrow in a circle are accessed thru the
intranet only. At the bottom of the website is a "Study Dog" which has
several bookmarks for dictionaries, encyclopedias, references, etc.
You
may leave this open and on the desktop for useage.
*It is best to use Internet Explorer rather than Netscapte, although
some
applications can only be accessed thru Netscape. Virus scans are
great to
use from the website and is ok to download. If you download, where
they
ask for a return email address use [log in to unmask] This way you will not
be
loaded down with ads.
*Web TV has a new check out system, one for PCs, Macs, iMacs, and
one for
the older Macs.
*New content filter - Web Sense, it blocks better but one draw back is
that
the internet may freeze early morning and at lunchtime - when High
Schools
use is the heaviest. Just let it sit for a few minutes and try again to
log in.
*To check to see where the students have been on the internet, go to
"History". A lot of the websites will put a "cookie" on your computers to
track where you've been and can pop up again. You may want to
delete these
cookies.
*To keep up good security, protect your passwords.
*To block/unblock a web site, send email to Paul and Loyal. If it is an
emergency to block a web site, call Paul 2-7238.
YOU MAY CALL PAUL AND LOYAL AT ANY TIME FOR HELP. Loyal
Clark 2-0486

*G4SERVERS- AR* The "Home" icon has been changed to
"RenLearn". Do STARR
first then AR, unless STARR is a stand alone program. The AR
program will
need mapped to "RenLearn" instead of "Home".
*For SASI information to import students for AR, call your trainer. For
the Sixth Graders in the Elementary Schools, lab techs please make a
list
of all of your Sixth graders, 1 copy for each Jr. High your school sends
students to, bring to the next meeting, and Don will see that the
students'
info is passed along.
*SUGGESTION: To protect your data please change your password
from "Admin"
to something you will remember and give it to one other person.

For a copy of the agenda from the meeting, see Don McMahon.
