I have been directed to remind people of IS policy regarding
downloading software such as the Riverdeep stuff. Basically, you
should not download software not approved by administrative
personnel. The problem is spyware, viruses, and software that has an
adverse effect on the computers

I realize Riverdeep is a known site and has reliable software. But I
have also seen commercial software companies ship CDs that were
infected. It's just Riverdeep was the most recently mentioned site
and is used as an example only.

Also some companies make software available for free at first then
start charging for it later. And by that point your users become
reliant on that software and you have to decide about spending your
budget dollars to support it.

And if it breaks, or affects your computers, the first thing a tech
will tell you is to toss it. So it's best to not do it.
