Hiyas,

During the summer when we were imaging, we did some configuration
work, too. Part of this consisted of mapping the macs to the home
directory of the local G4 server. This directory has been replaced by
the Renlearn directory. But your macs are still trying to connect to
the home directory when they start up. This is most noticable at
start up when you enter the password and nothing appears on the
desktop. That is the client Mac looking for the home directory.

For those of you with network asst admin setup, you can easily remove
the problem. All you need to do is remove the appleshare prep
preference from the preferences (it will regenerate itself without a
problem). And in System folder/servers remove the home*g4<name> alias
and you're all set. And if you have any questions, just e-mail me.
Jeff provided the info and I have already done this at a couple
schools
