hey gang...

i found some neat sites that allow kids to get an idea of what a hurricane
is really like. check out these links:

the first shows some neat-o satellite imagery

http://www.nnvl.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/index.cgi?page=products&category=Year%20200
4%20Storm%20Events&event=Hurricane%20Ivan

the next is some cool java script animation that shows the movement of
hurricane ivan

http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tropic/real-time/atlantic/storm/archive/javawv2.html

the last is the best demo...footage of a gas station bearing the brunt of
the storm hurricane charley. it's incredible footage that lasts just under
2 minutes....you'll need windows media player for this. it might be easiest
if you download the clip to your drive.

showed all three of these to my 5th graders yesterday...it was awesome!
