Lab Aide Meeting Minutes
10-28-02

• Ideas to share
Bring an idea/tip or trick/ management technique to the November meeting
which will be held at EdTech PC training lab in building 1 at 549 N. Stapley.

Use the ListServe to get help from other lab aides. Sign up at:
http://netpals.lsoft.com/archives/mps-labtechs.html

Network Assistant (Macs only) is available for “Students First” ruby iMac
labs. Check with your trainer.

Create a folder on each computer desktop to put website URL’s in. Drag and
drop URL’s into the folder. This takes right to sites and prevents searching
dangers..

Use the G4 server at your school to store valuable information. Each teacher
has a personal account made by Jeff Rossi. He made these up with a SASI
query. The account is made from this year’s staff list. Teacher’s names are
according to district personnel records. E-mail Jeff for additional account
information. A sample is listed below:

donald.mcmahon Staff private for the teacher
PW: learn Staff Share for all teachers at your school

Mcmahon Student put student folders here
PW: learn Student Share for students to get a copy
      from their teacher

• Websites/ software
www.edmark.com
Loyal Clarke will evaluate the site, then give the OK. Evaluations should be
done by the web developer. They will be posted on the ListServe.

 www.bookadventure.com
Compliments AR, but not officially connected with the company.
 Recommended for home use only.

• Lab Management
Outstanding Computer Lab Student Award for a student at the end of each lab
session. Just print it out from a template. Good for discipline in the lab.

Each class works toward earning a “stock certificate”. At the end of the
semester one class wins a pizza party.

• Renaissance (AR)
Big upgrade coming to many schools. Once version 6.22 is OK’d for the
principals, all will be upgraded. Principals need to be able to look at the
data from their computers. Star will be upgraded to version 2.2 .

November’s meeting will have a one-hour training session on AR reports. It
will be scheduled for the second hour of the meeting,(10-11 AM), so non-AR
school aides will be free to leave.

Don is developing an AR website at: intra.mpsaz.org.org/renlearn
E-mail him with suggestions at: [log in to unmask]

The next meeting will be Wednesday, November 20, 9-11 AM, in the District
Training Lab. 549 N Stapley Dr., bldg #1
