At Barbara Bush we have a 4700. It does a beautiful job printing and is
fast, but needed new cartridges just recently. It was almost $1000 for
all four colors. Wow.
It is a constant battle with kids printing to the wrong printers, so I
only attach teachers' machines to the 4700 and they can print the kids'
stuff off the server. However, a savvy kid can get to it on a Mac.
The printer itself is large; having the same footprint as the old 4550 but
much taller, to the tune of about 3 feet. At tabletop it is somewhat tall
for a vertically challenged person.
Got money? Go for it. Want to save money? I believe the other would do
a good job too.
