For those of you that have not yet had Macs reimaged and you have Mac
OS 9.0.4 or higher on your Macs, you can take advantage of the time
sync server that Jeff setup.

All you have to do is go into the date and time control panel and
have the "set daylight savings time automatically checked". Have
Phoenix for your time zone and check the, "Use a Network Time
Server". Once you have this, click on server options button and click
on the pop-up menu at the top right of the box. Select "edit" from
the menu, highlight a choice and delete it. If you try to use the
apple servers, you'll wind up in the year 2036. Delete the first two.
The third cannot be deleted. Highlight the 3rd once and click "edit"
and change both fields to "g4time". Once that is done, click "set
time now". The cursor will change briefly to a watch and back. This
means the time is set. Click "ok". Have the check feature set to once
every 24 hours.

Prime reason behind this was AR and keeping it happy.

For those of you with Network Asst, you can set the prefs on your
your admin computer and push the date & time pref out to the client
computers.

With the time sync set to every 24 hours when a mac with a bad
battery is started up, you'll still get that date and time error
message. But within one minute the time sync will set the mac. If
after that a teacher gets a network time error, that means either
their mac is not on the network, the network is down, or the time
server is down

For network questions on this, e-mail Jeff. For workstation questions
on this, e-mail me

Thanks
Dale
