Below are the instructions for getting around the freezing problem in Mavis
Beacon - From Broderbund website...
Tammy
Mavis Beacon Teaches TypingŪ 11
Freezes After Last Beginner Quiz
Mavis Beacon Teaches TypingŪ 11 freezes if the last quiz in the Beginner
Level is not passed before
moving on to the Intermediate Level. Restarting the program and passing
the last quiz before attempting
to advance to the next level should prevent the program from freezing.
Complete the steps that follow to resolve this issue.
1.Exit the program. If unable to Exit the program normally, complete
the following procedure:
a.At the same time, press and hold the CTRL and ALT keys on the
keyboard.
b.With the two keys pressed, press the DELETE key once.
c.When the Close Program window appears, release all keys.
d.Locate the Mavis Beacon Teaches TypingŪ listing in the Close
Program window
and click on it once. The title will become highlighted.
e.Click End Task. If a window appears indicating that the program
is not responding,
click the End Task button in that window. After the program
closes, the Close
Program window will also close.
2.Insert the program CD into the CD-ROM drive and restart Mavis Beacon
Teaches TypingŪ 11.
3.Return to the Lesson Area.
4.Click the Previous Lesson arrow. (This is the blue arrow on the left
in the lower-left corner of the
screen.)
5.Retake the last quiz in the Beginner Level.
NOTE: If the beginner quiz is completed and a screen appears that
reads "Some more work on
these keys...", then the quiz was not passed. (You will remain at
the Beginner Level.)
6.Review the Beginner Level by clicking the Next Lesson arrow. (This
is the blue arrow on the right
in the lower-left corner of the screen.)
7.Retake the quiz.
NOTE: The last Beginner Level quiz must be passed before continuing with
the next level.
