This is a recommendation for NOT upgrading to OS X.

If you have any tray loading iMacs and want to run an image intensive
application like Bugdom, then you won't want to use OS X. I
discovered this recently when upgrading the lab at Taft. I even tried
the Bugdom2 demo. BUT if you're not doing image intensive
applications (this includes iMovie) then OS X on the tray loading
iMacs is just fine

To know which Mac you have, if you put the CD in a tray to load, that
is a tray loader. If you insert the CD into a slot, that is a slot
loader. The earliest model slot loader runs Bugdom just fine

And having mentioned Taft, Jodie has made a couple important
contributions to the OS X image. This includes shortcut folders that
can't be tampered with by kids. And includes making the best use of
the keyboard shortcuts. These keyboard shortcuts are light years
ahead of what OS 9 offers. You can ask her how they are working out

And Taft seems to have the oldest computers so it will be the
baseline for what can be done with OS X.
