Hi Everyone,
Hang in there-- only a few more weeks to go :)
Several of you have sent me some websites recently, and I just posted
them. Here's the low-down:
KidsHealth: Find out how the various body systems work-- great for 5th
graders. It's posted twice- once in the Science/Human Body portal, and
once in the Gr. 5/6/Human Body portal. Thanks to Judi Nicholas for this site!
MLA Citation Maker: Step-by-step guide to creating MLA citations. This is
posted in the Reading/Writing portal. Thank you Lora Linn Foster for this one!
Read Write Think: Their main page looks rather boring, but try out the
various links, especially the biocube and the flip book. Reading/Writing
portal. Thanks to Pam Rottas for this suggestion!
I also posted Freeplay Music, and the ASSET website in Teacher
Resources. Freeplay Music can be used without having to pay anything, and
the ASSET website has tons of educational streaming videos. The state of
AZ purchased a 3-year license for us to utilize this site. Our Educational
Technology department has gone out to several schools to do inservices on
this site. If you're interested, let us know.
By the way, I've been given some hopeful information about a search tool
for the edtech website. The reason it's been a bit difficult is because
the icons and titles that I have for each website are really whole
pictures, not a picture and a separate piece of text. Text is searchable,
but not pictures. Why did I do it that way? Well, one, I didn't know any
better at the time, and two, I like the Comic Sans font, which isn't
available HTML style. I should know if it's a go by the start of the next
school year, so keep your fingers crossed. Hope you have a great week!
