Lab Techs and other interested parties,
All academic file services were terminated on 12-22-2004 to get a clean
backup. I manually started all schools backing up all data. If your schools
server was working you should have a good backup.

I tried to get into Robson to restart the server. I set off the security
system but could not get in the front door as it was chained shut. The door
did open enough to set off the alarm. MPS security could not tell me how to
gain access to the building. I gave up trying to get into schools after this
long and frustrating incident. Robson, Holmes, Sirrine, Whittier and
Washington I show as down. Salk and EMECEC are also having problems and are
not backing up.

I plan on coming in some time before Jan 3rd and turn the file services back
on. If on Jan 3rd your server is down (including the schools listed above)
call the help desk at 2-0044. I will get you as soon as I can.

The help desk will need your servers barcode and serial number to make a
work order. The attached spread sheet has your schools barcode and serial
number. This will help me keep track of how many repairs each server is
needing.

Ron
